Registration

Please Read the Following Registration Information if you are interested in signing a player up for our Travel Lacrosse Season.

Myrtle Beach Lightning will field a Girls’ travel lacrosse club team that enters Tournaments throughout the Southeast during the Summer tournament seasons. Although we encourage all players who are interested in trying the sport to come out for our travel club team, we are a competitive travel club, and playing time in games and tournaments will be based on the performance and ability of the player, attendance at practice, and commitment to the team to attend tournaments and scrimmages in any given season. Players are not guaranteed equal playing time during competitive tournament play. Player playing time is dictated by the player’s performance and execution of team concepts. This is assessed by the club coaches. Players are expected to attend two to three practice sessions a week during the season as well as off-season clinics and team events. Registration fees are utilized to fund expenses to run the club program effectively. Since we are not a publicly funded program through Recreation budgets, a majority of our team budget consists of registration fees and fundraising by the program. Our registration fees must be sufficient to budget properly for our season expenses (insurance, training equipment, team apparel, advertising, recruiting services, practice facilities, team events, ect.) in order to run the club. Parents/Players must pay registration fees and Tournament fees for the player participating in each season. If you are interested in joining the program, you must submit the registration form, execute the waiver forms, and submit the registration payment. In addition, new girls players to the travel club program must also purchase their game uniform, which includes a reversible game jersey, matching kilt/skirt or short, shooting shirt, and reversible practice jersey for a separate fee. Returning players will only need to purchase replacement uniforms if there are sizing issues, damages to their current uniform, and/or there is a change in the design of the uniform at the discretion of the club. Tournament fees will be determined based on each Tournament and the number of players participating in each Tournament. Although all players are expected to attend each Tournament with the team, players with scheduling conflicts may be excused from attending Tournaments and paying the Tournament Fees under valid circumstances and at the discretion of the club. Player Parents/Guardians will be required to sign a waiver for participating with the team in practices, scrimmages, team events, and games. A picture waiver is also required to allow the program to utilize video and photography content for social media and internet advertising and promotion. Players on our team roster for any given season are required to play in the Tournaments and scrimmages scheduled by the club and are barred from participating in other club programs that compete against or conflict with the club for practice sessions, games, and/or tournaments. Since we develop and teach team concepts and strategies to our players, we do not allow members of our team to participate on a competing club roster unless special permission is sought and granted from the club for certain all-star, select teams, or college recruiting showcases. Violating this rule will result in potential suspension or termination from the club program indefinitely. All players must have a valid US Lacrosse Membership to participate in our Tournaments and practice sessions. This is a requirement of Tournament hosts when registering players on our team roster for Tournament entry. Finally, the club reserves the right to suspend and/or terminate players from the team for failing to adhere to the team rules, having numerous unexcused absences from practices, games, or tournaments, or conducting themselves in a manner that is detrimental to the club program. Suspension or Termination is at the sole discretion of the club director and will result in complete forfeiture of any team registration fees, which are non-refundable.

Club Expectations of Players and Parents

The Travel Club Team was created to help player development as well as teach the core team concepts of the game. This requires a level of commitment by all Players and Parents of Players to foster the growth of our team. If players and parents of players are not committed to the team by practicing regularly and traveling to Tournaments, this Lacrosse Club is not the right program for your child. Players are expected to attend practices regularly to maximize improvement and build team continuity. Players are expected to treat other players and coaches with respect at all times. Players are also expected to participate with the Club during the season and not participate with other competing clubs as this creates a conflict of interest. Team concepts and strategies are practiced regularly to implement in competitive Tournament games, therefore, player participation with other clubs is strictly prohibited. In addition, players must regularly attend practice to learn and implement team strategies and concepts for execution in games. Players who do not regularly attend practice may be dismissed from the team and will not be entitled to any refunds for registration or tournament payments. Players and parents are also expected to treat officials and opposing team players/parents properly during Tournaments. Players who do not treat other players, coaches, and/or officials with proper respect may be dismissed from the team and will not receive a refund for any registration payments or tournament fees. In addition, dismissal from the team will bar the player from playing for the Club in the future. Failing to pay registration fees and or Tournament fees will also result in player dismissal from the program. The Club expects each and every Player/Parent to support the Club and its growth. Conduct that is considered contrary to this by the Club director and/or coaches may result in a player being dismissed from the Club. Negative or derogatory comments about other Club players, coaches, and other players/parents may result in players being dismissed from the Club. Stealing from other players or the Club will result in immediate dismissal from the Club. Fighting with other players of the Club will result in immediate dismissal from the Club. Use of any drugs or alcohol by players will also result in immediate dismissal from the Club. Equal playing time is not guaranteed for each player. This is a competitive Travel Lacrosse Club therefore players playing time in Tournament games will be dictated by the player’s skill level and ability. The goal of our program is to develop players as well as be competitive in the Tournaments entered. Paying registration fees and Tournament fees does not guarantee a player will receive equal playing time to other players nor does it guarantee players will be playing their desired positions. Our program focuses on player development in practices therefore attending practice regularly will help a player earn their playing time in games accordingly.
